| Our laboratory studies human genetic variations and RNA-regulatory mechanisms. By doing so, we hope to gain a better understanding of immune responses to viral infections and identify functional variants that determine susceptibility or resistance to life-threatening viruses. We use interdisciplinary approaches, such as RNA biology, genetics, and comparative immunology, to investigate how genetic variations can affect virus clearance. Our current areas of interest include innate immunity, interferon biology, human genetics, post-transcriptional regulation, comparative immunology, and immunity to viruses. Through our research, we aim to gain new insights into the mechanisms that determine disease susceptibility and identify potential drug targets.
