Centered within the Institute for Protein Design at UW Medicine, the Protein Design hub uses computational and biochemical approaches to create new proteins that can accomplish specific tasks—from self-assembling scaffolds that deliver vaccine antigens to computer-generated molecules that soak up toxins. With advanced tools for protein design, synthesis, and analysis, this hub brings together skilled biochemists and immunologists for projects including structure-based vaccine design and the development of novel cancer immunotherapies and treatments for autoimmune disease.
